The future of biotechnology

What if in the coming few years the doctor can predict your disease and the gene mutation causing it.? Or you could predict your heart attack and prevent it.? Or what if we could treat a child’s cancer by exploiting the bacteria in their gut?

Nowadays in our daily life, Biotechnology plays a huge role in our life now. From the clothes, we wear to the food we eat, and the medicine we use to keep us healthy, and even the fuel we use to take us around. Biotechnology is now everywhere. Biotechnology is a rapidly growing field and sector of science and continues to transform both in scope and impact.

The new drugs will help us to address our medical needs, and to fight epidemics and rare diseases. to industrial processes that use renewable energy and crops that can grow in harsh climatic conditions and ensure safe and affordable food, biotechnology ensures economic, social, and environmental safety and provide a secure future to all of us.

Various treatments are available today due to DNA technology and with the help of biotechnology, such as knowing the structure and function of DNA has helped us to discover solutions to many problems and helped to improve the lives of numerous individuals.

For example, Gene screening for diseases. This method has helped to scan for any diseases that might be present in our body due to any random gene mutation.

For example,

all newborns in the US are screened for a disease called severe combined immunodeficiency (SCID). People with this genetic disease lack a fully active immune system and usually die within a year, if not treated. Another example is gene screening done for adult women to predict the risk of developing breast or Ovarian Cancer.

Healthcare biotechnology and is already benefiting millions of people across the world and the medicines can treat chronic illnesses.

To deal with the rising problem of global warming, Industrial biotechnology is a rescue. Biotechnology helps to diminish global warming

by limiting down volatile emissions from power plants, and industries and this has helped to lower down global warming and aims to reduce 2.5 billion tonnes of C02 equivalent per year by 2030.

Another mission of this industrial biotechnology is food engineering, which is to replace meat and other dairy products creating food using cutting-edge technologies to lessen the colossal environmental deteriorations such as factory farming, carbon emission, excessive water consumption, and pollution. Startups such as Clara food are working towards making this a success.

Biotech is one of the most exciting and promising sectors in the industry right now and in the future it is very strong. Soon, there will be a world where there will be sustainable growth that will tackle energy, food, and environmental needs without compromising the Earth’s resources or its future.

And if you are looking for a long-term career, then you must move into developing biotechnology as a promising career option.
